About Us "Orange Mountain Bassets: Premier Breeder of AKC and CKC Certified

We are a 3rd generation of breeders starting with my Grandmother and my Daddy. We grew up with the sound of hounds, loved it even if at times the neighbors may not have.  

We lived in south Texas when Daddy gave us our first basset hound, Molly. I was 10 years old; she came from our grandmother in Western Kentucky. She soon became the neighborhood favorite and instilled the love of bassets forever in my heart.  

Now I live in the hills of Tennessee and still love the sound of hounds running and Ba-roo-ing in a pack, so reminiscent of the days gone by and a simple pleasure.  

Our Bassets are indoor/outdoor family members. They do not live in cages or kennels; they actually have what we refer to as 

" The Basset Bungalow" they are loved, socialized constantly by myself, my husband and a growing number of Grandchildren. The bassets rule the house we just work here.  

We absolutely love what we do, we provide the best care possible to make happy, healthy, loveable, never what to be away from us hounds. Many hours many sleepless nights go into providing the care that is needed to ensure the puppies we provide you with are the healthiest possible. We work with our Vet closely to monitor Momma & Babies constantly.  

We do not breed constantly; we are NOT a puppy mill and just as you should be selective of a breeder and the perfect pup. We are just as selective in making sure a Basset is the perfect fit for you and your family. 

Our retired Mommas remain here on the farm with us to live out those golden years doing whatever it is they like from strolls, basking in the sun or following along with the pack while they chase rabbits in our cornfield, as well as being Grand~Ma~Maw to all the Mommas and puppies. They are Family, I cannot stress that enough. 

So please before purchasing a Basset Hound do your research, ask questions. Because a Basset requires a special kind of family, not everyone can be a Basset parent. However, if you have what it takes (patience patience patience) then the years you have together will forever be the Best of your life and once you give your heart truly to a Basset Hound, you will know the true meaning of unconditional love. One Basset will never be enough after that.
